The hotel...

...I am staying here in Crete is the Aldemar Knossos Royal Village. This seems to be one of a set of hotels. Its very near the beach, and most of the tourists here seem to have come just to lie in the sun or swim in the sea, or in any of the many swimming pools. The language I have heard most often is German and also Russian. I think Germans form a large contingent of the tourists that come here, thats probably why the shops and signs (not the road signs, though, which don't even have the English script) also have German, in addition to English and Greek.

...telephoto lens that weighs 256 kgs!!!

Speaking of lenses, well, yesterday I seem to have lost the hood of Canon 17-40 mm L series lens. Too bad. The hood did come in handy at times, and now I am in no position to waste precious bucks on getting a new hood.

I am in...

...Greece since late Monday night. Exactly I am somewhere in Crete, about 23 km from the airport of the city of Heraklion. I came here to participate in the ECTEL 06. My presentation was today, and is now over, so am feeling pretty much relaxed.
