How easy it...

...is to feel pride:

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Glenn Torpy, said: "The RAF can be justifiably proud of what it has achieved over many years in Iraq and I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the personnel who have been involved in the various phases of this long campaign."

What should the hundreds of thousands killed and maimed by the bombs feel?

Mr. Hope cannot...

...seem to keep his promises. About-turn on release of torture photos, and now this:
Obama revives tribunals for detainees

I am sure there would be much more to follow.

Among the pile...

...of s..t being heaped on Pakistan these days is this gem:

Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is "very alarmed by the growing extremist threat in Pakistan and remains frustrated particularly by the political leadership's inability to confront that threat," his spokesman said Monday (Source CNN)

A sensible response to this crap has come from the prime minister of Pakistan, saying something to the tune that if you support a military dictator for 9 years, political institutions will be but weakened. Whatever the credentials of the prime minister, there is enough truth in what he said.
